YomePiano Online Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-17
Using the original YomePiano, without sign-in? Read its privacy policy.
In short
YomePiano Online is the version of YomePiano with sign-in and world rankings. The original YomePiano sends nothing anywhere. YomePiano Online sends the data listed on this page to our server so your scores can appear on the leaderboards.
Nothing is sent until you sign in. The sound of the video is analysed on your own computer and is never recorded or sent.
What we collect
- Your Google account ID: a number Google gives us when you sign in, used to recognise you the next time.
- Your email address, as Google gives it when you sign in (only if Google has verified it). We use it to write to you about your account and about YomePiano Online, such as events. It is updated each time you sign in, is never shown to anyone, and is never sold or shared. We do not ask for your real name or your profile picture.
- The display name you choose.
- Your profile picture, if you upload one on the Account page. It is made small in your browser before it is sent, and only that small copy is kept.
- Your runs: the YouTube video ID, the game mode, the score, the count of each judgement, the highest combo, how much of the song you played, the Notes settings used (what the notes follow, sensitivity, note gap) and the date and time. Only your best run on each board is kept, together with its score at every 5 seconds of the song, which the game replays to other players as a "ghost".
- While you play with "Show me while I play" on: the video you are playing, the game mode, and your score, combo, accuracy and place in the song, about every 2 seconds. This is passed to other players and not kept; one line saying you are playing that video (without the score) is kept until you stop, or at most 15 minutes if the connection is lost.
- Your sign-in sessions: a scrambled copy (hash) of each session token, when it was made and when it ends. Sessions end after 90 days.
- Reports you send about another player's name, picture or score.
What we do not collect
- No audio or video.
- No real name, contacts or location, and no picture except one you upload yourself.
- No browsing history. Videos you only watch, without playing a run while signed in, are never sent.
- No analytics, no tracking and no advertising cookies.
What other people can see
Your display name, your profile picture, how long you have played your most played songs and your best runs are public on this website and in the game: the song, mode, score, accuracy, combo, grade, note count, Notes settings and date. Your Google account ID and email address are never shown to anyone.
While you play, other players on the same video and visitors of this website can see your display name, the video you are playing and your score as it changes. This is on from the moment you sign in. You can turn it off with "Show me while I play" in the extension's menu; your finished runs still go on the boards.
Cookies and storage on your device
- One cookie is set while you sign in and expires after 10 minutes. It makes sure the sign-in comes back to the window that started it.
- One cookie remembers that you have visited this website before, so the language is picked from your browser's settings only on your first visit. It holds only the language and expires after a year.
- After sign-in, a session token is kept in the extension's own storage, or in this browser's local storage if you signed in on this website's Account page.
Who else handles the data
- Cloudflare hosts the server and the database. Like any web host it sees the IP address and technical details of each request in order to deliver the service and protect it from abuse. We do not save IP addresses in our database.
- Google handles the sign-in, so Google knows that you signed in to YomePiano Online.
- YouTube: our server asks YouTube for the public title of a video you play. Only the video ID is sent, nothing about you.
- YouTube cover pictures: the small video pictures on this website are loaded by your browser straight from YouTube (a Google service). As with any picture on the web, YouTube then sees your IP address and technical details of your browser. We do not tell YouTube which page you are on, and nothing from your YomePiano account is sent.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it with anyone else.
Keeping and deleting
Your account and scores are kept until you delete them. On the Account page of this website you can change your display name or delete your account. You can also change or remove your profile picture there at any time, and remove any of your runs from the boards. Deleting removes your account, your display name, your profile picture, your email address, all your scores, your sessions and your reports at once, and it cannot be undone.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Write to us using the contact details below.
